In conjunction with the Desert Caballeros Western Museum's upcoming "Treasures of the Navajo Horsemen: Saddle Blankets from the Getzwiller Collection," the following educational program is offered for your enjoyment.

The Curator Speaks Series presents

The Navajo Saddle Blanket: A Little-Known Art Treasure with Steve Getzwiller, Trader, Collector, and Curator of "Treasures of the Navajo Horseman"
Saturday, 2:30 PM, October 25, 2003.

Historically, an integral purpose of the Navajo weaving tradition was the creation of saddle blankets. Though not commonly made today, the early Navajo saddle blankets are highly sought after by collectors. As part of the opening day celebration of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum's newest exhibition, "Treasures of the Navajo Horseman," Steve Getzwiller will introduce the audience to the history and uniqueness of this exquisite Navajo art form. $5 ($10 for non-members)

"Treasures of the Navajo Horsemen" opens with a reception on Sat., Oct. 25, 2003 at 5:30pm. The reception will be hosted by the Desert Caballeros Western Museum's Event Committee and catered by Grandview Terrace. Cost to attend the opening reception is $25 per person.

The exhibition will remain open through Jan. 18, 2004 during regular Museum hours: Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00 pm. and Sunday noon to 4:00 pm. The exhibit if free with Museum admission of $5 fro adults, $4 senior citizens, $1 for children age 6 to 16 years and free for children under 6 years old.
