Pictorial Single Saddle Blanket : Historic Navajo Textile : PC 20

Hand spun, hand carded, natural wool, aniline dyes.  The center field was woven to create the illusion of landscape with a corn plant pictorial element growing out of the center.  Woven for a Navajo saddle- would have been woven from one Navajo to another (probably a payment to a Medicine Man)

This weaving was part of the Desert Caballeros Exhibition 2003 and is in the Treasures of the Navajo Horsemen catalog.  It was also part of the Painting with Wool exhibit and catalog(2016)
