SOLD Ganado - Klagetoh Navajo Weaving : Marie Shirley : 1085
From the Chinle Area of the Navajo Reservation, Master Weaver Marie Shirley (Brown) has won many awards. Her weavings have been exhibited and published in the "Fine Art of Navajo Weaving". Well known for her versatility and ability to weave any style she put her mind to, she exhibited in a one woman show at the Heard Museum in the 1990s showcasing this talent and the Desert Caballeros Museum 2000-2001.
You can own one of her stunning works of art - shown here is a Ganado - Klagetoh, and a photo of her weaving this piece at the loom. This is a fantastic example of the style featuring the famous Ganado red and all natural sheep wool.
We are honored to have worked with Marie Shirley since the early 1970s. She was one of the most talented weavers Steve has ever worked with. She hasn't woven in years and has just recently passed away. A true master weaver - one of the best.
It's been said by Navajo weavers, "If you like a piece it's not because you like it, it's because IT has chosen you."
