Tree of Life Navajo Weaving : Nora Bitah : 3203
Nora Bitah wove this beautiful Tree of Life piece. Easily recognized as a Navajo weaving, they are known as having a central stalk of corn (the Navajo Tree of Life) emerging from a sacred matrimonial basket. On the leaves of the corn we see birds of all colors bringing messages from the gods - on the sides we see more birds flying away, taking messages to the gods. At the very top of the weaving we see two simple, yet remarkable butterflies.
