Two Grey Hills Navajo Weaving : Helen Begay: 3213
Spirit lines are an important part of many weavings. This line which runs horizontally from the design to the edge of the rug is placed there intentionally by the weaver so that his/her creativity will not be trapped inside the rug. Other weavers use the spirit line as a guide from this weaving to the next. Sometimes seen at the top (end), or bottom (beginning) of the piece. Not all pieces have a spirit line.
