Antique Navajo Saddle Blanket : GHT 2306
This Navajo Single Saddle blanket is full of inconsistencies. It was woven during the period of time that whirling logs were the symbol of good luck, but in this weaving the whirling logs are stylized. The inside logs are woven with black and the outside symbols are a dark blue, perhaps indigo. So red, whit and blue. Also there is also a whole row of whirling logs that were started and never completed- see close ups.
The beautiful wool background was created by carding brown and white wool together.
