This piece spent 10 months on the loom.  It earned 1st Place AND Best of Category: Innovative Design at the 2014 Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial. This is an exceptional piece of art!

This weaving is part of the Navajo Churro Collection which is a special body of Navajo Weavings commissioned by Steve Getzwiller.

He works collaboratively with some of the very finest Navajo Weaving Artists working today. Each weaving is made with custom spun Navajo Churro Wool and custom dyed with the finest natural dyes, or if aniline, Swiss dyes, all are signature colors. 

Lucy Begay is a Master Weaver and broke out of the traditional mode by creating innovative designs long ago.  She and her daughter Ellen Begay were the subjects of a great book by Navajo Weaving Collector, Gary Beaudoin titled, Unbroken Web - The Art of Lucy and Ellen Begay 

Lucy's weavings have exhibited at the Desert Cabellero Museum in Wickenburg, AZ, The San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, and The Heard Museum in Phoenix.
