Crystal Old Style Design Navajo Weaving : Helen Kaye : Churro 526
Trading post owners had a great influence on the weaving designs of the Navajo. Demand for oriental rugs was high, so in order to swing the market to purchase from the Navajo instead of importing the rugs, the Trader would have the Navajo weaver incorporate favored design elements into their pieces.
Master Weaver Helen Kaye listened to her loom for over a YEAR as this Old Style Crystal design was woven into life using native Churro wool. It measures 9' x 12' and is an incredible piece of art. It's easy to see the oriental influence that the Old Style Crystal designs used with the Greek key border and interior shapes. This piece would be a wonderful addition to the right space! It would look great on the floor, over a game table, or on a bed. Where would you place it in your home?
