3rd Phase Chief Blanket : Laberta Marianito : Churro 896
The camera just doesn't do the colors in this Chief's blanket justice. Woven by Laberta Marianito, it features stripes of variegated brown, and cream Churro wool, with bright true red and blue full and half diamonds. When wrapped around the body, the half diamonds would meet to become one full shape.
This piece is a gorgeous work of art, and the judges at the All-Tribal Ceremonial agree. It earned 1st place in 2014 in the 3rd Phase Chief Blanket category.
It's been said by Navajo weavers, "If you like a piece it's not because you like it, it's because IT has chosen you."
