Germantown Style Navajo Weaving : James Joe: 3359
Contemporary weavers of today still embrace this style. James Joe creates highly desired and magnificent Germantown style weavings.
The 1880s brought the Navajo an influx of Germantown 3 and 4 ply, aniline dyed yarn supplied by the government and local traders. It's bright and bold colors of greens, blues, yellows, and reds quickly found their way into Navajo weavings. The colors were so bold and brilliant that it gave way to to the "eye dazzler" style of weaving.
