Saddle Blanket - Single, Sunday : Historic : GHT 2100

Some saddle blankets were woven to be used only on special occasions. They were known as Sunday Saddle Blankets.  This is a lovely example of one.

The beautiful yellow, black, white, and blue valero stars border the piece on a field of rich red.  This blanket has an empty center which is typical of saddle blankets as that area was hidden under the saddle.  A beautiful inner design in black and browns with split diamonds accentuate the piece.  Imagine this piece under the saddle, with the red border visible, and the fringed edge showing behind the saddle.
