The Nightway Ceremony is a 9-night healing ceremony usually performed in the late fall or winter.  It is one of the most difficult ceremonies to learn as it involves the learning of hundreds of chants, dozens of prayers, and many very complicated sandpaintings. It was first performed around 1000 BC by those who lived in Canyon de Chelly. The ceremony cures the sick and restores harmony.

In this nighttime piece - with a black sky, we see Talking God who wears a white deer pelt and holds a medicine pouch.  There are 6 dancers, each with a medicine pouch .  House God is seen at the other end of the piece, holding a fox.  Everyone is wearing a turquoise necklace, evergreen ruffs and beautiful concho belts.
