Twill Double Saddle Blanket Navajo Weaving : Historic : PC 41

This seemingly simple double saddle blanket has a secret.  It is not simple!  Woven with several twill techniques, it is stunning!  Start at the center of either of the diamonds.. all the way to the absolute center and you 'll appreciate the radiating diamond twill.  Do you see it?  Click on the image of the big diamond.

Look at the red bands.... they have two different types of twill techniques. We told you it held surprises.  More than just the weaving techniques, this saddle blanket was woven on an outdoor loom using hand-spun natural white and carded gray wool, and aniline dyed red.
