Single Saddle Blanket - Teec Nos Pos Navajo Weaving : Historic : GHT 1892

Woven for a Navajo saddle to be used as a saddle throw, adorning the top of the saddle for extra padding and show.

Most saddle blankets were woven with a plain center as no one would see it.  It was a way to conserve the more expensive dyed wool.  BUT the weaver who brought this piece to life, did it with a bang!   The designs in this piece tell us it's from the Teec Nos Pos area of the reservation. Look at the "T" border on a gorgeous red background.
