|Learn more about the Teec Nos Pos style of weaving|
The Teec Nos Pos (pronounced Tease-Nhas-phas) style of weaving can have varying degrees of complexity. Teec Nos Pos weavings take their name from the Teec Nos Pos and Red Mesa area of the Navajo Reservation near the Four Corners. Teec Nos Pos works were influenced by the Persian rug designs coming from the East.
It's easy to see why we've included this beauty in our Navajo Textiles as Modern Art exhibit, isn't it? We've had this in our personal collection for many years.
Woven from hand-carded, hand-spun, and hand-dyed Merino wool. The Aniline dyed wool is as bright today as it was when dyed in 1910. Look at the brilliant orange. It's so vibrant and full of life! When combined with the red and green, they coordinate beautifully with the variegated brown background.
A unique blend of history, Native American culture and storytelling make these weavings an art like no other.
To be showcased on your walls or grace your floors, this functional heirloom is one-of-a-kind piece of history that took 100's of hours to create and will last many lifetimes. We'd love to tell you more about it!
