SOLD Yei Framed Tapestry : Della Woody : Dwoody
We are delighted to have a framed tapestry created by premier weaver, Della Woody of the Sawmill area available for you to purchase. Della Woody weavings have been published in the "Fine Art of Navajo Weaving" and this piece earned 1st Place at the Heard Museum Show in 1984.
This treasure measures 15" x 20" (with frame 19" x 24") and is featured in our Woven Holy People collection.
To appreciate the extremely fine wool thread used in this piece, check out the fringe in the female's blouse. You can see the extraordinary color, design and detail by clicking the photos to magnify them. The wool would have had to been spun again and again and again many times to achieve such a fine thread.
This piece was featured in our Woven Holy People exhibit. You can see the exhibit guide here.
It's been said by Navajo weavers, "If you like a piece it's not because you like it, it's because IT has chosen you."
Close your eyes. Can you see this piece on a wall in your home or office? If so, you may have been chosen to be this weaving's forever home. Let us help this vision become a reality.
