So several months of time are required for the entire process, considering the dyeing, loom construction and warping, and then the weaving process. Navajo Wide Ruin Weaving by Master Weaver Ellen Smith.  New Zealand Romney wool dyed with natural dyes, hand carded, re-spun, hand dyed with vegetal dyes.  The vegetal dyes used were gathered by Ellen and her sister's from the hillsides of the Navajo Reservation.  That is why these weavings were so sought after: for this particular color palette, a distinct characteristic of the Wide Ruins Area weavings.
