About this weaving

This extraordinary Teec Nos Pos weaving showcases masterful artistry through its intricate pictorial narrative. Hand-carded, hand-spun, and hand-dyed Lincoln wool form the foundation of this sacred composition, which depicts the Hero Twins emerging from the underworld—a pivotal moment in Navajo creation mythology. Water and Medicine symbols flow throughout the design, each element placed with deliberate precision and cultural reverence. The weaver's technical excellence is evident in every thread, reflecting both profound spiritual understanding and exceptional skill. At 4'10" x 8'5", this significant textile represents the pinnacle of Navajo weaving tradition, offering collectors a work of profound cultural and artistic importance.

This extraordinary piece was featured in the prestigious 2016/2017 "Painting with Wool: Navajo Pictorial Weavings" exhibition at Nizhoni Ranch Gallery and appears on page 26 of the exhibition catalog.
