About this weaving
This historic JB Moore/Crystal rug is a 64" x 96" weaving created from hand-carded and hand-spun native wool. It features multiple Spider Woman crosses—sacred Navajo symbols—combined with an all-natural Crystal palette and hints of JB Moore Plate IV styling. A significant textile that honors spiritual tradition, design heritage, and authentic craftsmanship.
JB Moore and other reservation traders became architects of distinctive weaving styles, with Moore's catalogs from 1903 and 1911 offering visual inspiration to weavers seeking guidance and market direction. These printed designs became cultural touchstones, encouraging weavers to experiment with new compositional approaches while honoring established traditions.
