Ganado - Klagetoh Navajo Weaving : Historic : GHT 21

Every  now and then you come across a Navajo weaving that stops you in its tracks.  You've just got to stop, stand back and take in it's beauty.  THIS is one of those weavings.

This is an early piece from the 1930s in excellent condition.  It's a Ganado - Klagetoh as evidenced by the gorgeous variegated natural gray wool background and the deep crimson Ganado red.

The simple geometric symmetry catches your eye and won't let you go. You grab a line and follow it around and around as it moves through the weaving.

This piece is very skillfully and tightly woven. Spiderwoman certainly smiled on the artisan.
