About this weaving

Berlinda Nez Barber created this breathtaking Tree of Life pictorial at the peak of her artistic powers, spending over seven months perfecting every detail with an impressively tight weave. Crafted entirely from custom spun, hand-dyed Churro wool, this piece radiates authenticity and soul. The Tree of Life design carries profound meaning for the Navajo people—a celebration of nature's interconnectedness and a pathway to harmony with the natural world. Notice the blue birds woven throughout; in Navajo ceremonial tradition, they serve as messengers to the Gods.

Berlinda hails from the legendary Nez family, where her mother Grace and seven sisters are all celebrated master weavers.

Her work has graced museum exhibitions and appeared in multiple prestigious catalogs, including "Master Weavings of the Navajo Churro Collection" and "Painting with Wool." This treasure has been lovingly preserved in the Getzwiller personal collection since 1998 and is finally ready for a new home.
