Ganado - Klagetoh Navajo Weaving : Historic : GHT 865

The Hubble Trading Post at Ganado would commission weavings from select weavers.  This is one of those.  This commissioned weaving has many of the same design elements as do the large room sized rugs - the hooked arrows, the cut diamonds, etc.

One of the unique features of this piece, though is the addition of the four pictorial elements which represent the Hero Twins - Monster Slayer and Born of Water.

This is a beautiful example of a Ganado - Klagetoh weaving.  It is in very good condition.

It's been said by Navajo weavers, "If you like a piece it's not because you like it, it's because IT has chosen you."
